Take a city block, put the history of the area in the buildings and you have a surprisingly interesting and educational History Center.  There are two museums in this area, a refurbished 1940s Woolworths, and the 18th century Old Town Hall, add to that the historic square and a nationally renowned research facility and you are at the Delaware History Center.  There is a huge red arch that spans from one side of Market Street to the next.

The History Center offers an appealing way to show and teach history.  It takes nostalgic memorabilia along with priceless artifacts, art and re-creations that you can touch, hear, see and feel.  The Center is appropriate for both the serious scholar and the casual browser.

Spend some time with the exhibit Distinctively Delaware which is a permanent display that combines scale historic scenes with audio-visual and computer components to explore four centuries of the areas unique people, places and happenings.  For the youngsters visiting the Center there is Grandma’s Attic on the second floor where there are hands-on learn-and-play activities.
