Illinois isn’t the only place that has Lincoln history.  The Lincoln Collection at the University of Delaware Library Special collections Department has over two thousand books and pamphlets, photographs, artwork, sculpture, artifacts, historic documents, and miscellaneous material pertaining to his life (1809-1865).  Lincoln was the sixteenth President of the United States.

You probably studied the Emancipation Proclamation and the Thirteenth Amendment signed by Lincoln in high school.  Now you can see copies of these important documents at the Lincoln Center.

There are also official documents with Lincoln’s signature, two books from Lincoln’s personal library, newspapers and magazines of the period and a copy of the Ford’s Theater playbill printed shortly after the assassination.  There are also photographs and lithographic portraits of Lincoln and bronze portrait busts.

You’ve heard of, and probably seen a number of works by Currier and Ives, now you can have the opportunity to see a group of prints by them depicting Lincoln’s assassination and funeral

The collection also includes a large group of printed funeral orations and memorials.  This collection of quality items are not only a wonderful opportunity to see and read about Lincoln but to truly take a walk through history.

There are also items at the Goodstay Center where the University will continue to make space available for them.  The Library has also made facsimile reproductions of original manuscripts and artwork which are displayed at the Goodstay Center.
